Here, we look at the best reviews for the game..an overview of sorts on the reviews of Dark Souls III starting with one from MaG Gaming’s very own analyst and avid gamer, Rohan ‘Sesshoumaru’ Pashankar.

Dark Souls is a game that brings chills to most gamers. With its horrifying enemies, lack of save points, legendary boss fights and overall excruciating difficulty, none of the Dark Souls games are for a casual or faint hearted gamer.

Dark Souls 3 is set in the fictional world of Lothric and claims to be the most complete Souls game ever. From Software has taken into account the views of the fans and have built a world containing all the highs from the first Souls game while managing to improve all the changes made in the second.

Staying true to its predecessors, every step is dangerous and it takes more of skill, rather than endless grinding to complete the game. The storyline, while typically obscure is well written and extremely engaging. With improvements to the engine, the combat is precise and fulfilling. However with some expertise, the combat also becomes rewarding and flashy with the player being able to use a variety of combos using the newly introduced weapon arts.

Although the series is in its 3rd iteration, Dark Souls 3 does well in keeping true with the tried and tested formula while adding just enough of new features to make Players experience something new. So prepare to die multiple times and praise the sun because Dark Souls 3 is more than just a game, it is an experience in learning the value of patience and skill. This is not a game you want to miss.

“Dark Souls 3” is a beautifully-created game that you will be talking about for years afterward, or at least until its sequel comes along.  This game may be more difficult than most, but it will reward you with a sense of accomplishment and bragging rights galore.

Dark Souls III is still tough, but it tries harder than its predecessors to avoid turning players away. For the first time, I’m really enjoying adventuring through a Dark Souls world. I don’t feel like the game is preparing to laugh at me with a “gotcha” moment of nonsense difficulty the way the original Dark Souls did, From Software’s faster-paced Bloodborne. Some may say Dark Souls III is easier than its predecessors. I prefer to believe that it’s smarter.

It’s easy to recommend Dark Souls 3 on consoles with a single caveat: Much of what makes it work so well is the way that it does justice to the series’ own past, which just won’t mean much for folks hopping onto the Souls train for the first time. My recommendation for the PC build has to come with a firmer qualification. Yes, I still really enjoyed my time with Dark Souls 3 on PC. Yes, I’ll probably play through at least one run of NG+. But my enjoyment was seriously impacted by the unpredictable performance and crashing. If you’ve stuck it out this far (and especially if you actually care about the world and lore of Dark Souls), Dark Souls 3 will prove to be a satisfying coda to your time with the series. I can’t wait until the community goes into full lore-speculation and secret-finding modes. If Dark Souls needed to end–and all signs point to “Yes, it did”–I’m glad it was able to do so with such singular focus and form.

Dark Souls used to feel like a gigantic trap. Dark Souls 3, for better and for worse, feels like home. The third in the trilogy is bewitching while it lasts, but may not leave you wanting more.
